SF Bay at twilight
SF Bay Area Chapter · Est. May 2026

Connection is city infrastructure.
It's time we treated it that way.

The SF Bay Area Chamber of Connection is a unified voice for the belonging sector — bringing data, aligning leaders, and activating resources for the community builders on the ground.

The Problem

We've built systems for everything but connection.

We invest billions in healthcare, education, and transit — and leave belonging to chance. When people aren't connected, the costs ripple everywhere.

Connection isn't a nice-to-have. It's the operating system everything else runs on.

Healthcare

Loneliness carries the health risk of smoking 15 cigarettes a day — and a 29% higher mortality risk.

Education

Students with strong belonging are 3× more likely to complete school and stay at grade level.

Transportation & Civic Life

Transit ridership, voter turnout, and local spending all rise with belonging. Disconnected residents opt out.

Business & Economy

Employee loneliness costs US employers $406 billion annually in lost productivity and turnover.

Our Role

A unified voice for the connection & belonging sector.

The Bay Area has extraordinary community builders — but they operate in silos, are chronically under-resourced, and lack a collective voice. The Chamber is the infrastructure layer.

01

Unlock critical data

Establish what connection looks like across the Bay Area — who is isolated, where, and why — through rigorous regional research.

02

Align stakeholders

Convene senior leaders from healthcare, tech, civic, education, and arts through the Connection Council.

03

Activate resources

Direct 50% of every dollar raised to organizations already building community, and match builders with what they need.

Year One Initiatives

Prove the model. Build the team. Move the needle.

Five initiatives anchor Year One — each designed to demonstrate that coordinated investment in belonging works.

Leadership

Connection Council

Recruiting the Bay Area's senior-most leaders — one per sector — to actively mobilize their industries behind belonging.

Funding

3-Year Operational Foundation

A focused budget for a core team, signature events, and programming. Sized to prove the model, not overbuild.

Direct Impact

Community & Belonging Fund

50% of all funds raised flow directly to organizations building community in the SF Bay Area. The mission, made concrete.

Research

Belonging Survey

A rigorous regional survey — coordinated with the U.S. Chamber of Connection — to set the baseline and measure progress.

Programs

Three Signature Programs

Welcome Program for new residents · Whimsical Walk on the Embarcadero · Club Showcases connecting residents to affinity groups.

How to Engage

Three ways to shape this work.

For Funders & Corporate Partners

Invest in the infrastructure.

Support a 3-year plan that funds the core team, programs, and events — and ensures 50% of every dollar reaches community builders. Founding funders will be recognized as architects of a new civic institution.

The Connection Council

Leading by sector.
